During your time in Subnautica 2, you’ll come across areas affected by Bloom Infestations. These hazardous zones are dangerous to explore, as small, quick enemies will zip after you, dealing considerable damage.
However, if you’re looking to progress through the game, you’ll need to tackle them, and there’s only one Tool for the job: the Sonic Resonator. Just like other Tools in the game, you’ll need to find a way to craft it, but once you do, you’ll be ready to tackle Bloom Infestations with ease.
Here’s where to find degraded Sonic Resonators so you can craft your own, as well as how to use one to destroy Bloom Infestations in Subnautica 2.
Where To Find Sonic Resonator In Subnautica 2

To build the Sonic Resonator, you’ll first need to find two degraded versions of the tool with a Scanner, both of which can be found whilst exploring.
Just like other tools in the game, there are more than the required amount needed to be found scattered throughout the world. For example, you only need to scan two Sonic Resonators before you can make one of your own, but there are far more than two out there to be found.

Therefore, if you play the game naturally and explore abandoned structures, you should find them quickly enough. That being said, if you’re looking for two precise locations that can get you the Sonic Resonator as quickly as possible, then head to the Welcome Home POI, found roughly 375 meters North of the Lifepod.
Inside, you’ll find two Sonic Resonators for you to scan: one right in the entrance on a shelf to the right, and another in the following room on the floor to the left. Get those both scanned, and you’re ready to make your own.
How To Craft Sonic Resonator In Subnautica 2
With those scanned, you should unlock the crafting recipe for the Sonic Resonator, which requires some higher-tier materials.
Here’s how to craft a Sonic Resonator:
- 1x Basic Battery
- 2x Titanium Ingots
- 2x Lead
- 1x Wiring Kit
This is definitely more of a step up in terms of crafting recipes for tools, but it’s a handy one that you’ll be using incredibly frequently. You’ve probably seen huge ore clusters scattered around, which were previously unbreakable. Well, with a Sonic Resonator in hand, you can charge the tool up and blast them, yielding more resources at once.
Of course, we’re after one to help deal with the Bloom Infestations, and now you’re finally ready to tackle them.
How To Destroy Bloom Infestations In Subnautica 2

To destroy Bloom Infestations in Subnautica 2, you need to destroy the glowing white buds with the Sonic Resonator.
One charged blast from your new tool will destroy a bud, and you need to kill each one in an area to completely eliminate the Bloom Infestation.

It might sound easy, but as you’ve probably noticed, those pesky Bloom fish dart around and deal significant damage, especially when they gang up on you. They can also be killed with the Sonic Resonator, but I found it best to ignore them and go for the buds; when they’re all destroyed, the fish die with them.
Once you’ve destroyed all of the buds, you’ll see that you’ve cleansed a Bloom Node; do this to both of them (which you can find by following the winding, purple roots), and you’ll unlock a new Angel Comb, which will grant you a crucial Adaptation…
