Subnautica 2 has numerous biomes and areas for you to explore, but you won’t just be able to get to them all freely. Some are too deep, requiring new diving gear and vehicle upgrades, whilst others are simply too damn hot to handle!
Luckily, progression in Subnautica 2 is all tied together, and if you want to explore those fiery zones, you’ll need a specific Adaptation to help you out. That being said, it’s not so obvious how you acquire it, and you’ll need to if you want to keep the game moving.
Thankfully, Insider Gaming has it all figured out. Here’s how to get the Adaptation that allows you to endure higher temperatures in Subnautica 2.
How To Earn Heat Tolerance Adaptation In Subnautica 2

To earn the Heat Tolerance Adaptation in Subnautica 2, you’ll need to find and cleanse the second Angel Comb.
These giant, plant-like pods grant you Adaptations that allow you to survive better on this strange new world. The first one lets you eat the fauna and flora on this planet, and the second one will help you withstand higher temperatures.

That being said, it’s not as easily acquired as the first Angel Comb, which was already open, as you need to cleanse it from the Bloom Infestation. To do this, you’ll require a Sonic Resonator, which we already have a handy guide showing you how to acquire one—check it out here.
With that in hand, destroy the Bloom, and the Angel Comb will open up, allowing you to get its associated Adaptation: Heat Tolerance. Now you’re ready to explore the hotter regions of Subnautica 2, and get your hands on even rarer resources.
Why Do You Need Heat Tolerance?
Heat Tolerance is crucial to progression in Subnautica 2, as numerous resources are exclusive to these regions.
The likes of Gold and Sulfur can only be found in high-temperature areas, and they’re two resources that you’ll need fairly regularly, especially as you continue to progress down the tech tree.

Additionally, new areas and wrecks are explorable in these regions, so you’ll want to investigate them to find any new scannable objects.
