There are plenty of resources that you’ll need to constantly farm for in Subnautica 2, and one of the regular ones is Gold. This strangely-shaped ore is a crucial crafting component for numerous items, so you’ll need to know where best to search for it.
With such a vast, open ocean in Subnautica 2 full of different biomes and environments to explore, it’s easy to get lost and not know where to look for resources, but this guide should make it easier than ever to find Gold.
Here’s where to find Gold in Subnautica 2, as well as what the resource is used for.
Where To Find Gold In Subnautica 2

Gold is exclusively found in and around the hotter regions of Subnautica 2.
If you’re still early in the game, it’s likely that you won’t be able to reach these areas just yet, as the high heat will quickly kill your character. Instead, you’ll need to seek out the Heat Tolerance Adaptation, which we have a handy guide for right here.

With that sorted, you’ll be ready to dive down into the scorching waters and collect yourself some Gold. It’s yellow and comb-like in its structure, and unless you’re seeking out the large chunks, you should be able to harvest it with ease.
Be quick, though; it’s usually right next to a heat source, which will still deal damage if you get too close, even with the Heat Tolerance Adaptation to your name. It’s best to rush in, smash the rock, and dip straight back out before any damage is sustained, but it won’t be anything life-threatening if you linger for slightly too long.
What Is Gold Used For In Subnautica 2?
Gold is a fairly common crafting component in Subnautica 2, with it being required for a few later-game recipes.
You’ll need Gold directly for a few different recipes, ranging in uses. It’s required for Advanced Wiring Kits, which itself is needed for quite a few higher-tier recipes.

However, you’ll also require Gold for a couple of recipes in the Processor, like Gold Ingots and Strong Acid. It’s not a material you’ll need a constant supply of, but it’s definitely one to make sure you always have a handful somewhere in your storage.
