Part of the fun in Subnautica 2 is exploring the ocean around you and diving to deeper and deeper depths. However, you can’t just do that freely, as the deeper you go, the more Oxygen you consume; before long, you’ll only be able to dive for a few moments before running out of breath.
Thankfully, there’s a device to prevent this, and you’ll want to get your hands on it as soon as possible. It’s called the Rebreather, and it allows you to dive much deeper, so you can continue to make progress through Subnautica 2.
Here’s where to find the Rebreather, as well as how to craft it.
Where To Find Rebreather In Subnautica 2

To build the Rebreather in Subnautica 2, you’ll first need to find a degraded version of the tool with a Scanner.
Just like other tools in the game, there are more than the required amount needed to be found scattered throughout the world. For example, you only need to scan one Rebreather before you can make one of your own, but there are at least two out there to be found.

Therefore, if you play the game naturally and explore new locations, you should eventually run into the Rebreather. That said, if you’re desperate and want to know where to look, then head to the location marked on the image above.
It’s a small Colonist Bunker found roughly 275 meters South-West of the Lifepod. Head inside, and you’ll find the Rebreather straight to your right. Give it a quick scan, and you’ll be ready to craft one of your own.

With that scanned, you should unlock the crafting recipe for the Rebreather, and it’s fairly cheap to make.

Here’s how to craft a Rebreather:
- 2x Fiber Mesh
- 1x System Chip
It shouldn’t be too difficult to craft, and you should have run into the required materials across your adventure by now. All that’s left is to equip the Rebreather, and now you’ll be free to dive to deeper waters without Oxygen consumption being a concern!
