How To Unlock New Crafting Recipes Using The Scanner In Subnautica 2

To unlock new crafting recipes with the Scanner in Subnautica 2, simply equip the tool and scan unknown items when you’re close to them.
Throughout your adventures in Subnautica 2, you’ll run into tons of degraded tools and items from other colonists here before you. However, they’re not in a usable state, but with your Scanner, you can scan these pieces of gear to slowly learn their crafting recipes.

Depending on the item, you’ll need to potentially find numerous of each item before you can fully learn the recipe for yourself. It’s important to keep an eye out when exploring caves and manmade structures, as they’re prime locations to find new items to scan. Another tip is to follow lights; they’re a sign someone’s been there before!
