Where To Find Quartz In Subnautica 2—Coral Domes, Explained

There are plenty of resources that you’ll need to constantly farm for in Subnautica 2, and one of the regular ones is Quartz. This shiny gemstone is a crucial crafting component for plenty of items and building materials, so you’ll need to know where best to search for it.

With such a vast, open ocean in Subnautica 2 full of different biomes and environments to explore, it’s easy to get lost and not know where to look for resources, but this guide should make it easier than ever to find Quartz.

Here’s where to find Quartz in Subnautica 2, as well as what the resource is used for.

A great place to find Quartz in Subnautica 2, especially during the early game, is inside Coral Domes.

These dome-like structures can be found across the bottom of the ocean, and they’re abundant in the starting area of the game. All you need to do is find a way inside, and look to the ceiling and walls, which should be littered with Quartz for you to collect!

The resource isn’t exclusive to Coral Domes, though, so you can find it quite easily scattered throughout the map. As you progress further afield, you’ll begin to see Quartz spawn in bigger and bigger chunks, but you’ll eventually need a Sonic Resonator to destroy them. Until then, these spawn points should serve you just fine.

Quartz is a crafting component for plenty of items in Subnautica 2, though you’ll most likely need it the most for crafting tools and glass.

Whilst you’ll need Quartz directly to craft the likes of a Scanner and Flashlight, it can also be used to make materials like glass and system chips. These items are used in a myriad of other crafting recipes, making Quartz an essential resource that you’ll find yourself regularly farming for.

Thankfully, it’s not too difficult to find, and you should only ever need it in small quantities—unless you’re planning to line your base with windows galore.
