The CEO of Gunzilla Games is firing back against recent claims that the company hasn’t paid employee salaries for months.
Earlier this week, talent acquisition lead Anna Savina posted on LinkedIn, claiming that Gunzilla Games failed to pay a “significant outstanding debt that covers several months.”
After her post, other employees replied, suggesting they were dealing with similar situations. That led Gunzilla Games CEO Vlad Korolev to post a lengthy message on Twitter regarding the claims.
Right away, Korolev called the claims nothing more than “FUD”, which stands for fear, uncertainty, and doubt, and that it was only done to “farm views”. He said that it was a way to target “the biggest web3 game ever created.”
He then went on to focus on the studio’s NFT battle royale game Off The Grid. Korolev said that if people want to spread “FUD”, he’d be willing to set up a live dashboard to see new players joining in real time.
After more talk of the game’s growth, Korolev finally went back to the claims levied against him and Gunzilla Games.
“Today there is a new narrative from haters — that Gunzilla incorrectly laid off contractors or paid them with delays,” he said. “Yes, we are optimizing costs — like every company in gaming, crypto, and tech is doing right now.
“We have been doing this for over a year. And yes, to not disrupt company operations, some payments may be scheduled in a way that works for the company’s cash flow — not always for everyone individually. That’s the reality of the world we live in.”
Korolev continued by adding that the company works at a pace “that ensures the company continues moving forward”, and that they “honor every obligation.”
While he says they “apologize for any inconvenience this has caused”, Korolev says that “one of the loudest voices” against the company, who he says was a contractor who finished their work a week ago, was “repaid immediately”. That said, he didn’t address the other claims against it from long-time employees.
Instead, he doubled down on those against the studio and their practices, which includes there not being “a single day where anyone worked in a “work-life balance” mode”.
“And while our dear haters keep trying to find new reasons why Gunzilla should fail — we will keep responding with achievements,” he said.
For what it’s worth, Savina provided an update after she took her claims public that her specific situation has been addressed by the company. There hasn’t been an update on the other employees who made similar accusations.
