During the latest Level5 stream, it was revealed that Professor Layton and the New World of Steam will be coming to PS5 and Steam alongside the Switch 1 and Switch 2 releases.
In April 2025, during the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct presentation, it was announced that “Professor Layton and the New World of Steam” would be released for Nintendo’s new console. However, many fans were curious if the game would also be available on other platforms. The developers have now answered these wishes, along with a glimpse into the game’s features.
Professor Layton and the New World of Steam is Coming to More Platforms
At the latest Level5 Vision 2026 Craftsmanship livestream, it was announced that Professor Layton and the New World of Steam is releasing for PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam as well. We were also informed about the new features, the game features, puzzles, voice actors, and theme song of the upcoming title.
Regarding the new features, players will see the addition of a coin radar, a world map, and updated movement. Puzzles will help your town grow, and players will meet new companion characters. The game also features cutscenes in “Full 3D” with mouse support for all platforms except Nintendo Switch.
Coming to game features, Puzzles are the main focus, helping progress the story. The Puzzle design is by QuizKnock, and Professor Layton and the New World of Steam features the most puzzles in series history. These can also be solved using touch controls on supported platforms, and players will receive puzzle hints, hint coins, and a memo to help solve puzzles.
Professor Layton and the New World of Steam is set in America and features a town “fueled by invention” that is the hiding place for a great mystery. The game will also see Layton and Luke Reunite as they meet a host of unique characters. Check out the voice cast for the game below:
