Elden Ring Nightreign Leave Penalty, Explained

Elden Ring Nightreign Expeditions take between 35 and 50 minutes to complete, so it’s only fair that there is a punishment for abandoning your teammates and hanging them out to dry.

The expedition structure for Elden Ring Nightreign is quite simple. Before a run, you choose which Nightlord you want to take down. After that, you spawn into the world with two other teammates and are tasked with surviving three days.

During the day, you are free to explore Limveld and take on field bosses to earn upgrades. In the first two nights, there are mini-bosses, and if all three teammates go down, the expedition is over. On the third day, you fight the Nightlord, and there are no second chances as well. Surviving one day, let alone all three, is a tall order, so having all three teammates is a huge help.

What is The Penalty if You Leave in Elden Ring Nightreign?

There is no penalty for leaving a match the first time, but FromSoftware does warn you that it will incur a penalty.

It’s unclear how many expeditions you have to leave to activate the penalty, but doing so will temporarily restrict online matchmaking.

You won’t get any Relics or Murk from abandoned matches, and you’ll lose any Remberance quest progress. We don’t recommend leaving matches because there is always a chance that it results in a temporary matchmaking ban, and it also puts your teammates at a distinct disadvantage.

If you regret your decision and want to rejoin a match, or if you were disconnected because of server issues, there is a way to rejoin an expedition in progress to avoid facing any penalty.

Here is everything you need to know about the rejoin feature.

  1. After leaving a match, go back into Elden Ring Nightreign.
  2. A message will pop up, asking you to join the match again.
  3. Selecting ‘Ok’ loads you back in, but pressing ‘Cancel’ puts your account at risk of being temporarily restricted.
