Two new Assassin’s Creed games are reportedly in development at Ubisoft, with one set in ancient Rome.
The news comes from content creator J0nathan, who has previously proven to have sources at the French publisher, especially when it pertains to the Assassin’s Creed franchise.
Assassin’s Creed Goes Back to Rome?
According to Jonathan, the new Assassin’s Creed title is codenamed Mars and will be set in Ancient Rome. According to the content creator, two sources with access to Ubisoft’s backend systems corroborated the information. According to the YouTuber, the game’s setting is likely to tie it in to the new Assassin’s Creed TV series in some capacity.
In addition to the first title, it was also said that a second game is in development under the codename Pocket, a mobile title set in Jerusalem.

Insider Gaming has also heard of these codenames; however, it hasn’t been able to verify the claims to our standards for a report. That’s because the Assassin’s Creed franchise has been going through turbulence over the last year or so, which started after the departure of Marc-Alexis Côté. It’s made it harder to understand what’s going on with the Assassin’s Creed franchise with certainty (admittedly, nothing is certain at Ubisoft anyway).
As recently as October, Insider Gaming heard from sources that Assassin’s Creed Hexe, the next mainline Assassin’s Creed title, has had issues and has been internally delayed by another year, likely pushing its release to 2028.
As for when Assassin’s Creed Hexe will be officially announced with its real title, it’s unclear, and if Assassin’s Creed Rome makes it further into production, we’re likely still not hearing anything about it until 2029/2030.
