Sega is still developing new games for the Streets of Rage, Jet Set Radio, and Golden Axe franchises. In its Q2 FY2027 earnings report, Sega Sammy, Sega’s parent company, still listed all three franchises as games with upcoming titles. It first announced plans for these releases in February.
Sega recently released Shinobi: Art of Vengeance in the Shinobi franchise, and in 2027, it will release a new Crazy Taxi game.
Jet Set Radio hasn’t had a new release in decades, since Jet Set Radio Future on the original XBOX. DotEmu released Streets of Rage 4 in 2020. The Golden Axe franchise hasn’t had a release since Beast Rider in 2008.
Streets of Rage Movie in the Works

Sega has been developing adaptations of its popular franchises beyond video games. Sonic the Hedgehog has had a successful movie run, with the fourth set to be released in early 2027. Sega has also recently released a Golden Axe comedy series on Paramount Plus. That series received mixed reactions for its use of metahumor.
A film adaptation of Streets of Rage is currently in development. The earnings report lists it as an animated title. There’s also a listing for Golden Axe that says it’s coming soon, with no official release date or platform. You can learn more about the Streets of Rage film by reading about the film’s appointed writers and director.
