Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced was one of the biggest games of the year, and it showed Ubisoft that there was a desire for classic Assassin’s Creed experiences. But despite the success of the game, Ubisoft wants it to be known that no other remakes are currently in development at the studio.
In its fall update on the state of the franchise, Ubisoft spoke about the community’s questions about remakes and what they learned after Resynced.
More Remakes Could Come Later On
Ubisoft says they learned a lot from the studio’s first franchise remake. They acknowledged what it means to take a game that meant so much to many players and rebuild it from the ground up.
“Rebuilding old systems from scratch, adding new elements that fit the experience, and balancing legacy with innovation was a massive undertaking,” Ubisoft said. “We’re super proud of what the Resynced team delivered and how well it was received.”
That’s when they made it clear, however, that another remake isn’t in the works right now.
“One thing we want to be transparent about today is that we currently have no other Assassin’s Creed remake actively in development,” they explained. “Our teams are already focused on the next chapter of Assassin’s Creed titles, including projects you haven’t heard about yet, featuring new settings and stories.”

Although no remakes are in development at the moment, it doesn’t mean they’re done forever. Ubisoft says that they like the idea of revisiting classic games, and will keep exploring opportunities to do so in the future.
“That door remains open because, after all… Nothing is true, everything is permitted,” they said.
