The 30 FPS vs 60 FPS graphics settings debate will run forever, with people happy with 30 FPS and a Quality mode, and others not taking no for an answer with a 60 FPS Performance mode—so let’s see where GTA 6 stands, graphically.
Grand Theft Auto 6 is more than likely pushing the PS5 and XBOX Series X|S to their very limits. You only have to look at GTA 6’s file size to get an idea of how mammoth this game is, and how much life and soul Rockstar has poured into it. That said, let’s see if it can sustain 60 FPS.
Will GTA 6 Have 60 FPS Performance Mode?

It seems like GTA 6 won’t be launching with a dedicated 60 FPS mode on either XBOX Series X|S or the Base PS5 or PS5 Pro models, according to a GTA 6 dev.
Firstly, the 60 FPS rumor intensified when it was claimed by the Rock and Borys podcast that a GTA 6 60 FPS Graphics Mode was ‘Very Likely.’ However, the podcast hinted that it wouldn’t be available at launch.

This claim appears to have been backed up by Rockstar North lead developer and co-director, Rob Nelson, who told Kotaku (translated) that “the consoles are running the game at 30 frames per second.”
Additionally:
“According to the director, it is still necessary to consult the technical team to determine if there will be a 60 FPS option at launch (or in the future). He also emphasizes that he does not currently have details on resolution and other technical qualities, such as the use of Ray Tracing, but the performance, for now, is 30 FPS.”
It seems safe to assume that GTA 6 is probably launching without a 60 FPS option, but it could be patched in after release.
All GTA 6 Graphics Settings

While there have been rumors of 60 FPS or even 40 FPS graphics settings, it seems like GTA 6 is only launching with a classic 30 FPS setting, akin to what we see with ‘Quality’ modes.
As a 60 FPS Performance Mode enthusiast myself, this is disappointing, but it makes sense. Digital Foundry did some digging after the game’s Netflix Showcase.

Here’s what the outlet reported:
‘The footage supplied to Netflix and YouTube, also available on the Rockstar site itself, is a 30 frames per second video asset. There are numerous reasons why this is a bad idea (your console outputs at 60fps, and only if performance is a perfect, locked 30fps will the video be representative) but the bottom line is that the developer deemed this sufficient as the game itself targets 30fps – and seemingly, that’s now 100 percent confirmed.’
They also double down on the idea of post-launch graphic settings being added. The bottom line is that GTA 6 more than likely debuts at 30 FPS, and we shouldn’t expect any further options until after launch, and even then.
