Elden Ring Nightreign is different from previous FromSoftware Souls games. Three-player co-op is advisable, and it means having three people frantically charging around a map trying to beat bosses, level up, and progress. Voice chat would be extremely helpful, but we’re here to see if the setting exists.
I’ve someone who’s never summoned real-life help for Souls bosses before. I enjoy a single-player journey that only unfolds for me. Elden Ring Nightreign takes the idea and strikes it down with a mighty blade. Even though you can play solo, Nightreign is better with two other people.
Three of you wailing on tough bosses with HP for days and trying to revive each other and explore the map. You definitely need to talk to each other, but communication is paramount for individual players matchmaking together in a random party.
Can You Use Voice Chat in Elden Ring Nightreign?

Elden Ring Nightreign does not feature voice chat, VOIP, or any other form of native, in-game voice chat between players.
If you hop into a game of Nightreign with two randoms, you’ll never hear a word from them throughout the entire experience. There isn’t even a basic text chat pop-up box to quickly broadcast a message, nor quickfire, predetermined voice lines like you’d find in Rocket League or another online multiplayer title.
In-game voice chat is non-existent, and you’ll have to find different ways to interact and communicate with each other.
How to Communicate in Elden Ring Nightreign
The only way to communicate with other Elden Ring Players is by using Emotes / Gestures, pinging markers on the map and in front of you, or using a specific platform’s voice chat system.
Emotes & Gestures
These are only really novelty gestures at best. You can Emote at another player, but it doesn’t offer much outside of a funny gesture. They’re entertaining and can be obtained from the Small Jar Bazaar, but they’re not practical and efficient when it comes to getting an instruction or command across.
Markers
Limveld’s repurposed map features locations, special items, and more during each game. You can bring up the map and place pins to give everyone else an idea of where something is or where you need to go.
Additionally, while you’re running around, you can also point out key destinations—which will ping for other players. For example, if a player is downed, you can pin their location. You can also pin your location, as well as the location of in-game items players can pick up.
Platform Party Chat
As a PS5 player, I can use the PlayStation 5’s built-in Party function to create a chat with my friends, and join it, and I can talk to them exclusively without needing the use of Elden Ring Nightreign’s built-in voice chat.
Obviously, this won’t apply to everyone, hence the mystery surrounding VOIP. It’s an option, though, especially if you’re playing with friends.
If enough people complain, I think in-game voice chat is a lock to be added later on. It will enhance the experience for Elden Ring Nightreign singles and could help bolster the action title’s already stellar player count. Is it your most requested Elden Ring Nightreign feature?
