Nintendo has announced that, as of August 3, it will be raising the prices of the original Nintendo Switch “family of systems and products” in the United States (US).
UPDATE: The new prices have been confirmed for the Switch hardware. The base Nintendo Switch is now $339.99, the Switch Lite is $229.99, and the Switch OLED is $399.99.
Similar to when they announced a price change for Canada back in June, the company is blaming it on “current market conditions”.
“These include Nintendo Switch – OLED Model, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch Lite and select Nintendo Switch accessories,” the company said.
Even “certain Nintendo Switch 2 accessories, select amiibo, and the Nintendo Sound Clock: Alarmo” will see price changes.
What won’t change “at this time” is pricing for the Nintendo Switch 2, physical and digital Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 games, and Nintendo Switch Online memberships.
When the pricing changes take effect, it will be reflected on the Nintendo Store website.
The price change couldn’t come as a surprise. As mentioned, Nintendo announced in June it was set to do the same thing in Canada, though it still hasn’t announced what those new prices are despite the changes being expected August 1. On top of that, both Xbox and PlayStation have recently increased hardware prices in various regions, citing “market conditions”.
