Miami Beach Approves Negotiations For GTA 6 Marketing Campaign

The City of Miami Beach has given the green light to negotiate with Rockstar Games for an upcoming marketing campaign, which would bring Grand Theft Auto 6 adverts to the area.

Slated for release on November 19, GTA 6 is arguably the most anticipated game of all time and, being set in the fictional state of Leonida, Rockstar Games‘ version of Florida, the developer is seeking a marketing campaign in the region, and negotiations have now been approved.

GTA 6 Marketing Could Come to Miami Beach

As reported by Eurogamer, voting on the subject narrowly passed at 4-3, following some outspoken criticism about the title, due to the nature of gun violence, drugs, and illegal activity.

Details revealed Rockstar is expected to pay $3m, though it was noted that the city will attempt to negotiate for a higher fee, while it was later stated the benefits received would be “closer to $4m.”

“This is coming to Miami Beach with or without us, and to pretend that it isn’t is a missed opportunity,” Commissioner Tanya Katzoff Bhatt stated.

“It’s actually close to $4m or so in benefits to the city, which itself would pay for the Flamingo football field renovation project that is currently not funded, which is of vital importance to families all across the city.”

The campaign would also see GTA 6 advertised “discreetly,” through beach chairs and umbrellas, feature Vice City or the roman numerals VI, for 6, rather than the Grand Theft Auto title.

If fully approved, the campaign will run from October 15 through to the end of the year, and it may not be the only GTA 6 advertising in the area.

Francisco Alvarado, a freelance journalist in Miami, reported a deal is close to being concluded between Rockstar and Miami Dade County, which would see a GTA 6 sign placed on the roof of the Kaseya Center.
