Battlefield 6 players on Steam can rejoice, as they will no longer require the EA app to launch the game on Steam; all they need is an account.

Battlefield 6’s multiplayer reveal event was hosted yesterday, where we received a wealth of information about the upcoming title, along with a substantial amount of gameplay. We already know that the game is releasing on October 10, 2025, and it will feature nine multiplayer maps. The developers are hosting multiple betas this month. Luckily, Steam players don’t need to worry about downloading the EA app.

Battlefield 6 Players Do Not Need the EA App to Play on Steam

In the Battlefield 6 FAQ section, a question regarding the EA app requirement has been addressed. It has been stated that BF6 players on Steam only need an EA account to play the game, no app required. However, if you are purchasing the game through the Epic Games Store, then you must have an EA account and the EA app to play the game.

The FAQ section for Battlefield 6 reveals several more essential details. The developers have confirmed that there are currently no plans to bring BF6 to Nintendo Switch 2. The game will feature quality and performance prioritising modes on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S and will include additional enhancements for the PS5 Pro. Moreover, the developers are using Javelin Anticheat to provide a fair gaming experience in the upcoming title.

In other news, Battlefield 6 developers have hinted that the game will not feature unrealistic skins and cosmetics. Additionally, Respawn Entertainment’s Vince Zampella has answered whether BF6 needs to compete with Call of Duty to succeed. What are your thoughts on Battlefield 6 not requiring the EA app on Steam?
