All eyes are on Battlefield 6 right now, and with the launch drawing ever closer and landing before Black Ops 7 comes out, fans on both sides of the wire are wondering if the former will defeat the latter after all these years of playing second (or third, or fourth…) fiddle.
In a recent interview, Respawn Entertainment’s Vince Zampella fielded a question about the competition between Battlefield 6 and Call of Duty. It’s an age-old debate that has raged for two decades, and right now, the ball seems firmly lodged in Battlefield’s court.
Will Battlefield 6 beat Black Ops 7? Does it even need to?
‘It’s Such an Amazing Experience’
In a recent interview with Gaming World Media, both Vince Zampella and Byron Beede answered some of the most critical questions about Battlefield 6. In one segment, Jake Lucky asked the duo if Battlefield, as a franchise, sees Call of Duty as a competitor.
Byron Beede, with 19 years of experience at Activision Blizzard and an immense tenure in the Call of Duty world, refrained from answering the question, but Vince Zampella dived straight in:
Both have existed for so long together, I think they complement each other in different ways. We have things that they don’t. Battlefield, the destruction, the class systems, stuff like that.
It’s such an amazing experience, it’s different… Is it a competitor? In a way, like every other game is a competitor in a way. But Battlefield is unique and offers things that nobody else really can.

The expectations for Battlefield 6 are running wild after Electronic Arts delivered a stunning reveal live from Los Angeles. The 20-minute presentation covered a high-octane multiplayer trailer, release date information, a battle royale tease, and information about the all-new Portal platform.
It’s easy to see the mass investment Electronic Arts has poured into Battlefield this time around, but will it be enough to finally topple Call of Duty?
Stranger things have happened.
