Battlefield 6 has been fully revealed and is racking up tens of millions of views, thanks to a multi-million-dollar creator-backed marketing campaign. Last night, the Battlefield 6 multiplayer reveal was streamed from Los Angeles, uncovering the game’s maps, modes, pre-order bonuses, battle royale platform, and more.
In an interview published shortly after the major reveal, Respawn’s Vince Zampella and EA’s Byron Beede sat down to talk about the future of Battlefield 6 and what it took to get it where it is.
They also mentioned why those who dropped off the series should come back when Battlefield 6 launches.
‘The Team Has Done an Amazing Job’
In an interview with Gaming World Media, both Vince Zampella and Byron Beede expressed strong and positive sentiments towards the game they’ve created, gushing over the team and the paths that were followed to bring Battlefield 6 to life.
They stressed that this is the turning point for the franchise and that all fans, both veteran and new, should give Battlefield 6 a chance.
Vince Zampella spoke first:
I mean, it is the core DNA of Battlefield. I think we’ve said that, but you know, the combat system, the controls, have been refined to such a level that it’s the DNA of Battlefield taken to the next level.
It’s a natural progression, it feels so good, it’s so responsive. If you’ve had trouble in the past or you’ve had complaints in the past, this system nails it. The team has done an amazing job with the combat controls.
Byron Beede, formerly a 19-year veteran of Activision Blizzard and a driving force in the development of Warzone, explained:
It’s made with people who love Battlefield. These are people who have been on the franchise for 20+ years – their life is Battlefield and they want to get it right.
We spent a lot of time early in the project of like, ‘We’ve got to get the DNA of Battlefield right – destruction, classes, combat, all-out warfare.’
I was always excited when we were having these conversations, because there’s the notion of like, ‘I can’t wait until the core sees what we have going on with Battlefield.’
I feel this is exactly what they’ve been looking for.
I don’t say this lightly, it has been an obsession to get Battlefield right for the core.
The pair suggested that the feedback they’ve obtained from Battlefield Labs has helped them ‘hone stuff’ way faster than they ever could have before.
Here’s the full interview from Gaming World Media:
Battlefield Labs received a phenomenal response when it surfaced earlier this year, inviting players to take part in testing phases for Battlefield 6. It served as a breeding ground for hundreds of leaks, but that wasn’t exactly harmful for Electronic Arts – quite the contrary.
It has now allowed countless players to get a foot in the door with the Battlefield 6 beta, which kicks off next week and will be available exclusively (at first) to those with codes from the streamer campaign or with existing Battlefield Labs access.
