Battlefield 6 Devs Elaborate on ‘Tactical Destruction’

Battlefield 6 developers have provided new details on how ‘Tactical Destruction’ works in the upcoming title.

Battlefield 6 is easily one of the most anticipated games of the year, and last night’s multiplayer reveal has taken the hype to even higher levels. Players finally got to see some official gameplay yesterday, witnessing the new environmental destruction features in action. Now, the developers have elaborated on BF6’s tactical destruction system.

Battlefield 6’s Tactical Destruction Will Bring ‘Unparalleled Levels of Freedom’

During an interview with PCGamesN, EA executive vice president Vince Zampella spoke about Battlefield 6’s new ‘Tactical Destruction’ system. Zampella stated that the new system isn’t about “created moments” but about allowing the map to be “destroyed in any way possible”, to the point that it no longer remains the original map.

Zampella elaborates that Battlefield 6 maps are made “purposefully for fun, combat sight lines, and performance”. Hence, when the players get control over the destruction, they might blow up “this building one time, this building another, or nothing at all”, and that’s where the flexibility has to come in. However, even when they are destroyed, the map should still feel full, and Zampella guarantees that the map is still fun to play.

Zampella concludes, stating that players will have to trust them to be good at their jobs and hopefully then can “make a really fun fucking map for you to play”. He adds that Battlefield 6’s tactical destruction should not leave the map “in a less fun state,” as that would “just ruin the gameplay, and it is all about creating the most fun gameplay.”

In other news, Battlefield 6 players do not need the EA app to launch the game on Steam. Also, BF6 developers have hinted that the game will not feature unrealistic skins and cosmetics.
