Unity Releases AI Tool That Helps Develop Games Faster

Unity AI is now in beta, introducing a built-in agent tuned for Unity workflows or to connect preferred AI tools.

The influence of AI in gaming is increasing rapidly, as it is in other fields worldwide. Major names in the industry have acknowledged the tech’s benefits but are approaching it with caution. Take-Two’s CEO recently spoke about the significant benefits AI brings. Now, Unity has released a new AI tool that can help make games in a flash.

Unity AI Beta Features Revealed

A new trailer posted by the official Unity account on X (formerly Twitter) reveals all the new features of their AI tool. The trailer showcases a user building a game through prompts. The first prompt asks the tool to create a ‘demolition derby’ using the assets they have, and that environment came to life within seconds.

The second prompt shows the user creating a car using only references. They were also able to use prompts to take control of the car, mount a weapon on the roof, and write a script that lets the player aim and shoot.

The Unity AI beta tool was then used to apply the final touches, adding a darker, more dramatic skyline, a ‘dystopian fog’, and cheering robots. That was all it took to get the core game ready.

The website states that the new tool has been created for Unity-specific workflows, which help deliver “more relevant answers, better task execution, and fewer retries.” The Unity AI tool can also help convert designs, images, and visual references into project-ready assets and playable scenes.

When asked about game development data being used to train the model, the devs confirmed that with Unity AI beta, “By default, user data is not used to train AI models. You can opt in to share data via the Dashboard.”

In other tech news, the Xbox CEO confirmed that Project Helix’s pricing and availability will be affected by memory shortages. What are your thoughts on Unity’s AI tool entering beta? Leave your thoughts down in the comments, and join the official Insider Gaming Discord server.

  • Weird, I just redownloaded Unity yesterday too. Looks like I’m gonna have to try this out… Maybe I’ll create a Halo extraction shooter before Halo Studios LoL
