Xbox CEO Confirms Memory Shortage Will Impact Project Helix Pricing and Availability

Even Project Helix is not safe from the memory shortage issue, and its pricing and availability will be impacted, the Xbox CEO has stated.

An Xbox VP recently commented on how Project Helix will be treated, revealing that it will be a first-party console. Now the Xbox CEO has provided some information on how things could change for the console amid memory shortages, which have already impacted pricing and availability across most of the industry.

Memory Shortage Will Be Taken Into Consideration for Project Helix

In a new interview with Game File (via GameSpot), Xbox CEO Asha Sharma shared how a memory shortage could impact Project Helix. When asked by Stephen Totilo, Sharma mentioned that they have taken it into account and that “Memory costs will impact pricing, will impact availability.” The CEO added that they will take the memory shortage into consideration and aren’t ready to provide players with a release window at the moment.

Sharma added that, at the moment, Xbox’s priority is to focus on what it can control: “build a great console to play great games, including your PC games.” Sharma also reiterated that Project Helix development kits will be sent to developers in 2027, and they are really excited about the next-gen Xbox console and the “feedback” they have received.

Here’s Asha Sharma’s full statement on memory shortages impacting Project Helix:

“All of these things are an equation. Memory costs will impact pricing, will impact availability. As we think about being where the world plays, we will take that into consideration. So we’re not ready to share a launch timeline right now. The world’s pretty dynamic. My number one focus, though, is to focus on what’s in our control, build a great console to play great games, including your PC games.”

In other news, Asha Sharma has clarified what “open” means in the context of the brand’s refocusing. Additionally, when Xbox Game Pass launches its new “Starter Edition” tier, it won’t feature online multiplayer.
