Xbox Game Pass is set to get a new entry-level tier, but it’s going to omit one core feature from the service.
Xbox Game Pass Starter Edition is expected to be the new plan announced by Xbox in the near future. This plan, according to leaks and reports, will allow up to 10 hours of Xbox Cloud gaming, the ability to earn Xbox Rewards, Discord Nitro integration in some form, and over 50 games to play.
What it won’t have, however, is the ability to play online multiplayer on console.
For the first time, according to data-miner Billbil-kun, Xbox is going to offer a Game Pass tier that, while available for console users, won’t allow players to play online with others. That means many of the games available in the tier, like Fallout 76, Deep Rock Galactic, Chivalry 2, Among Us, and other games, will have to be played on PC in order to play online.
Luckily for players, this tier will include Xbox Play Anywhere on games, letting you play on PC, console, and other compatible devices.
Insider Gaming has reached out to Xbox for comment. It’s also important to note that Xbox hasn’t confirmed these details just yet, so know that plans can change between now and the official reveal.
