Ubisoft Hires 2K Co-Founder To Lead Tom Clancy-Focused Creative House

A new announcement reveals that 2K’s co-founder will be joining Ubisoft as the general manager for Creative House 2.

For those unaware, Ubisoft announced a major restructuring of the organization earlier this year, which introduced a new operating model. This model operates across 5 different creative houses, supported by a Creative Network. Creative House 2 is responsible for focusing on competitive and cooperative shooter experiences.

2K Founder Will Now Lead Tom Clancy Dev Team at Ubisoft

Ubisoft has announced in a new press release that Christoph Hartman, co-founder of 2K Games, will become the General Manager of Creative House 2. This development team is known for creating titles with competitive and cooperative, battlefield-driven gameplay, including popular franchises such as Tom Clancy’s The Division, Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon, and Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell. In addition, the team will work on March of Giants, an upcoming free-to-play multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) game.

Hartman is an industry veteran with two decades of experience at Take-Two Interactive, where he co-founded 2K Games. He served as president of the label until 2017, leading teams that developed popular franchises such as Borderlands, BioShock, Sid Meier’s Civilization, NBA 2K, and XCOM. Additionally, Hartman helped support the early releases of the Grand Theft Auto series. Prior to his new position at Ubisoft, he held the role of Vice President at Amazon Games.

Here’s what Christoph Hartman had to say on joining Ubisoft:

“The talented teams at March of Giants, Massive, Ubisoft Montreal, Ubisoft Paris, and Ubisoft Toronto have always known how to create worlds that players lose themselves in. With Creative House 2, we are giving them the structure, support and vision to go further, to build the kind of intense, unforgettable experiences that remind players why they fell in love with games in the first place. That is what great games have always been about, and that is what we are here to make.”

Here’s Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot’s statement on bringing in 2K co-founder:

“Christoph is exactly the kind of leader we needed for Creative House 2 – a passionate gamer with a proven ability to bring out the best in creative teams and build franchises that last” said Yves Guillemot, co-founder and CEO, Ubisoft. “His experience across development and publishing as well as his management style give him a rare understanding of what it takes to make great games. I am confident Christophe will elevate our teams and brands to new heights and deepen their connection with the dedicated players who love these franchises”
