Team Heretics is the latest European esports organisation to close its Tier-2 League of Legends team.
The LEC organisation announced that the Los Heretics academy team will cease operations and won’t compete in the 2027 Spanish SuperLiga (LES) season.
This academy team won EMEA Masters back in 2022 and reached the final of Summer 2025, narrowly missing out on an LEC Versus spot to Karmine Corp Blue.
Los Heretics also won the LES Spring Playoffs earlier this year in Spain and finished second in the SuperLiga Final Four 2026.
Statement on The End of Los Heretics
Heretics is the latest in a long list of teams to pull out of the EMEA Regional Leagues and Tier 2 LoL esports.
Last month, Team Vitality ended its Vitality.Bee academy LoL team after seven years and excited France’s LFL.
Jorge ‘Goorgo’ Orejudo, Team Heretics co-owner, released a video explaining the organisation’s “sad” decision:
“This is a decision we’ve been considering for quite some time. In fact, we thought about making it last year, but as it was the first year of the new LES competition, we wanted to take part and see how the league worked.”
Goorgo then stressed that the LES has done a good job in its first season and that was not a factor in the move.

Instead, Goorgo revealed that this was a financially motivated decision:
“This comes down to budgets. Budgets are limited, and we decided this year not to invest in our academy team, so that we can take the budget and put it towards our main LEC team.
“We could have stayed in Tier 2, but that would have meant a drastic 80% cut to the budget.”
He then insisted that player development and the Tier 2 scene are still crucial to Heretics’ LoL project, leaving the door open to a potential return in the future.
