Street Fighter 6 Director ‘Shocked’ by Pricing for Tournament Streams

Street Fighter 6 director has commented on the pay-per-view streams for Capcom Cup 12 and SFL: World Championship, stating he was ‘shocked’ by it.

Capcom has announced the dates for Capcom Cup 12 and SFL World Championship, with both taking place on March 14 and 15, respectively. What’s confusing the players is that these tournaments have pay-per-view streams, costing 4,000 JPY (approximately USD 27) to watch the stream and the bundle for both costing 6,000 JPY (approximately USD 40). The Street Fighter 6 director has commented on the pricing for tournament streams now.

Even Street Fighter 6’s Development Team Were ‘Surprised’ by Pay-Per-View Streams

Street Fighter 6 Director, Takayuki Nakayama, was recently asked on X (formerly Twitter) whether the “esports division and dev team” are entirely disconnected due to the high prices for streams. Nakayama replied, stating that it “may sound strange”, but yes, the teams are disconnected. The director explained that “revenue targets and assigned tasks differ fundamentally by department,” which can lead to a disconnect.

However, “the development team was surprised by this announcement (At least Matsumoto and I were shocked at the venue).” At the same time, as the situation has arisen in the same company, they are currently discussing it and “apologise for any concern this may have caused”. In a follow-up comment, Nakayama stated that he will delete this comment if he gets “scolded at work”. However, at this time, it appears that he agrees with the community’s sentiments regarding SF6’s pay-per-view streams.

In other news, the Street Fighter film has been scheduled for an October 2026 release date. Additionally, here’s more information about the SF6 swimsuit skins that came with the Sagat update. • No surprise they need to make money. The FGC tards think money just grows on trees they’re mad about EVO or MK not having money but thing is Saudi’s invested into Capcom and that money went to stuff like this that is not bringing it the increased prize pool is from them and Capcom is not making the money they need to
