Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 Development Unaffected by Xbox’s ‘Lack of Memory’

The developer of Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 has confirmed that the Xbox Series S’s limited memory hasn’t affected the game’s development.

Several developer interviews for the Final Fantasy 7 Remake series have started surfacing online recently, bringing us more information about the third installment in the series. The developers recently confirmed that the progress on the game is going strong and they already have ‘a lot of playable content‘. Moreover, it seems that the memory issues on other platforms will not be an issue for FF7 Remake Part 3.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 Developers Comment on Xbox Series S’s Lack of Memory

During a new interview with Easy Allies, via Eurogamer, FF7 Remake Part 3 Director, Naoki Hamaguchi, spoke about the problems that arose with the Xbox Series S. Hamaguchi stated that, like other publishers, they “did see some issues with the lack of memory compared with other platforms” with the Xbox version, but didn’t specifically mention the Series S. However, they have designated teams working on each platform, so “the multiplatform approach won’t impact the development whatsoever”.

As for the Switch 2, the development for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth and Remake Part 3 is going very smoothly. However, they are facing some issues with “power consumption constraints” as the consoles reduce the performance a bit in handheld mode. Which is why they have “talented rendering programmers put in extra work on optimisation.” At the same time, lighting will be key to bring out the “graphics quality and expression in this day and age.”

In other news, a Square Enix producer recently discussed Final Fantasy 17 and turn-based combat. Additionally, players are still wondering whether a Final Fantasy 9 Remake is in the works, after the developers seemingly teased it. What are your thoughts on Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3’s development being unaffected by the Xbox Series S’s lack of memory? Let us know through the official Insider Gaming forums discussion.
