A new co-op Spider-Man multiplayer Mod has been released for PC, and players can’t get enough.
The mod, which has been released by the mod group ‘Spider-Man Multiplayer’ has turned Marvel’s Spider-Man (2018) into a fully-fledged co-op multiplayer experience. One clip, which has been uploaded on X (formerly Twitter) has garnered over 1.3 million views at the time of writing. You can watch the short snippet of gameplay below:
Currently, the mod is only available to those who back the Spider-Man Multiplayer Patreon, which is set at £8 plus VAT (approximately £9.60) per month.
As expected, the mod has seen players’ outcry for Insomniac to re-greenlight a multiplayer project they were already working on codenamed Spider-Man: The Great Web. Unfortunately, though, the title was cancelled sometime before March 2024 and only surfaced in the massive data breach and hack that the studio faced last year.
At the time of writing, the Spider-Man Multiplayer Mod Discord has some 11,000+ members with over 2000 members active.
As for if the multiplayer mod will be made free or public remains to be seen, but fingers crossed that Insomniac has seen its viral success and decides to go back to its cancelled project.
The original Marvel’s Spider-Man game launched in 2018 and as of February 2024, has sold over 50 million units according to Insomniac Games.
