Fortnite iOS Has Officially Been “Blocked” by Apple

After days of waiting to see what happens, Fortnite has officially announced that efforts to bring Fortnite to iOS have failed as Apple has blocked the game from appearing on the US App Store or Epic Games Store in the EU.

Hope sprang eternal on May 1 when Epic CEO Tim Sweeney declared the company would: “Return Fortnite to the US iOS App Store next week.” We waited for the imminent Fortnite Mobile rerelease, and it never happened. A long Apple review took place to decide the fate of Fortnite Mobile, and now we have the answer.

A May 16 statement from the official Fortnite X account cleared up the ongoing battle between Fortnite and the Apple Store.

“Apple has blocked our Fortnite submission, so we cannot release to the US App Store or to the Epic Games Store for iOS in the European Union. Now, sadly, Fortnite on iOS is offline worldwide until Apple unblocks it,” it said.

There are plenty of ways to pay and enjoy Fortnite, but it won’t be on iOS anytime soon. If Epic or Apple comments on the situation further, we’ll circle back to this.
