The gacha gateway opens once more as Ananta steps through. The NetEase-published open-world title features the usual gacha mechanics to help you get better characters and grow stronger, but its swing traversal movement is very reminiscent of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.
If you’re looking for a game for movement and fluidity tips, you’re going to do well to find one better and more accessible than Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. Insomniac has nailed down the feeling of flowing freely between skyscrapers and gliding through the sky in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.
Naked Rain’s Ananta evidently agrees, as it has borrowed quite heavily from the series.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is Clearly An Inspiration For Ananta

Ananta is a cel-shaded open-world title with procedurally generated cities. Its trailers show other obvious inspirations, including Grand Theft Auto. However, X user @EvanFilarca shared a short gameplay video of a character moving through one of the cities.
There’s no other way to describe it: They are swinging (using some kind of magical arm power) through the city, grappling to rooftop objects for momentum, using buildings as launch pads, wingsuitting, and free-falling through the air in a manner comparable to one franchise—Marvel’s Spider-Man.
To the naked eye, the animations between Ananta and Spider-Man look identical.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2: The Anime… I mean, ANANTA looks absolutely incredible! It genuinely looks like Marvel’s Spider-Man, GTA, Watch Dogs, and Sleeping Dogs all rolled into one stylish open world package! Will definitely be keeping my eyes on this game in the future! 👀🎮
Does Ananta’s movement look similar to Spider-Man 2? If so, where do you think companies should draw the line between paying homage to other games and outright stealing other ideas and systems? Share your thoughts through the Insider Gaming forum.
