A new story expansion for Yakuza Kiwami 3, recently revealed, has already been announced at RGG Summit.
As the next remake, Yakuza Kiwami 3 will redo the original Yakuza 3, bringing it to modern consoles with next-gen graphics. While the story is getting some changes and additions, it seemed like it ended there. However, during the RGG Summit, it was announced that DLC for the game is also in the works. This time, you’ll get to play as a character central to the plot, never playable before.
Yakuza Kiwami 3 Dark Ties Lets You Play as the Antagonist, Mine
Revealed after Yakuza Kiwami 3, a paid DLC called Dark Ties has been announced. The expansion, which won’t be included in the main game, will act as an additional story. This time, you’ll be able to play as Yakuza 3’s antagonist Mine. While we didn’t see much gameplay, we do get a lot of narrative details, like Mine’s companionship with Kendo and his connection to Dojima. The expansion seems to act like Sonic x Shadow Generations, as you can play either Dark Ties or Yakuza Kiwami 3 first.
No price was announced for Dark Ties, but it will be bundled with Yakuza Kiwami 3 for $74.99. The bundle launches on February 11th, 2026. The new content should amount to a few more hours of gameplay, now with a new character in the lead. Even more so, fans of the original Yakuza 3 should be quite excited to explore Mine, who many consider one of the series’ best villains.
