According to a new report, Marathon will not be featured during PlayStation’s State of Play showcase tomorrow.
If you haven’t heard, PlayStation has confirmed a State of Play event for tomorrow, September 24, 2025. It will feature “more than 35 minutes of reveals and news”, including an extended look at Saros, Housemarque’s upcoming title. However, it appears that Marathon might not be featured during PlayStation’s upcoming event.
Marathon Might Not Receive Any New Announcements till November
The claim about Marathon not appearing during PlayStation’s State of Play showcase comes from the reliable Paul Tassi from Forbes. Tassi’s new report states that Marathon will not be at Sony’s September event, so don’t expect a release date or any other announcement. Moreover, the game “is not about to be imminently discussed in some longer Bungie presentation.” Lastly, it seems that the earliest we might hear something new about Marathon is in November.
Marathon has been on a downward slide since the whole art theft fiasco. Since then, we have heard several reports about Bungie being in freefall, developers stating that working on the game was “toxic and humiliating“, the late hiring of a new creative director, and more. Despite all of that, Sony confirmed just last month that Marathon is still scheduled to release by March 2026, stating, “We are now fixing the problems.”
In other news, Marathon leaks revealed that proximity chat was being tested in one of the recent playtests. Additional leaks reveal details about an NDA playtest and a new runner.
