The Witcher Season 4 Had a Budget of $221 Million, It’s Claimed

A new report claims that The Witcher Season 4 has a budget of $221 million, which translates to over $25 million per episode.

The Witcher Season 4 is set to arrive on Netflix on October 30, 2025, bringing one massive change to the series: Liam Hemsworth replacing Henry Cavill as Geralt. It seems that, along with the protagonist replacement, Netflix is also making this the most expensive season yet for The Witcher series.

Each Episode for The Witcher Season 4 Reportedly Costs Over $25 Million

Spotted by GamesRadar+, the details about The Witcher Season 4’s budget come from a new report by Redanian Intelligence. The report claims that the budget for the upcoming season was $221 million, which is roughly $27 million per episode. To date, Season 2 reportedly had the highest budget for the series, costing $176.3 million, or approximately $22 million per episode. The report also claims that over $20 million has been spent on The Rats: A Witcher’s Tale, excluding post-production costs.

For those wondering, The Witcher Season 4 and Season 5 are being shot back-to-back and will adapt Andrzej Sapkowski’s three remaining books: Baptism of Fire, The Tower of the Swallow, and Lady of the Lake. The fifth season will be the final addition to the series, which will bring it to “an epic and satisfying conclusion.” Moreover, Laurence Fishburne (The Matrix Trilogy), Sharlto Copley (District 9), James Purefoy (The Following), and Danny Woodburn (Watchmen) will be joining the new season as well.

In other news, over 60 developers have joined CD Projekt Red to work on The Witcher 4, Cyberpunk 2, and more. Additionally, the developers of The Witcher 4 are unsure how to top the previous game.
