Battlefield 6 Server Browser: DICE Asks What’s Important About It

For many years, Battlefield fans have adored the server browser mechanic in the series that allows them to navigate the available servers with ease. It’s a feature that improves community management, matchmaking, and allows players to have more control over the types of games they play and how they play them.

On social media, one of the producers at DICE working on Battlefield 6 asked what it is about the server browser that’s so important to fans of the franchise.

‘What We’re Doing’

On social media, Alexia Christofi, producer on Battlefield 6, wrote:

I’m gonna talk about our server browser later today, but first, I wanna understand everyone’s reasons for wanting a server browser so I can make sure I explain what we’re doing effectively.

What is it about a server browser that’s important to you lot?

It’s an interesting question, and it drew responses from some of the biggest Battlefield creators in the space.

For instance, TacticalBrit pointed out that ‘it’s essential for communities to host what they want, where they want.’ This was followed up by Crash explaining, ‘(it) unequivocally proves no SBMM, ping is king and transparent.’

Other fans of the franchise suggested that it’s necessary in a game like Battlefield, and that it facilitates a stronger and more collaborative vibe by allowing larger groups of friends to link up on the same server.

If a Battlefield 6 server browser surfaces in an effective way, it’ll allow users to cherry-pick the maps, modes, regions, and server sizes they play on. I’ve been a Battlefield fan for 20 years, and I’ve always advocated for the server browser. I wish it were a thing in more games, as it gives you the freedom to choose, and that’s hugely important.

Are you hoping for a top-notch server browser mechanic in Battlefield 6? Let me know on the Insider Gaming forum.
