Battlefield 6 Crossplay: EA Will Try To ‘Match Console Players With Other Console Players’

The Battlefield 6 beta starts next week, and with the trailers, presentations, leaks, and rumours, the content mill for the game is going very strong. Players are thick with questions right now, and one topic that’s permeating most discussions is around Battlefield 6 crossplay. Folks playing on consoles want to know if they’ll be ‘safe’ from the PC crowd.

According to a recent report, Electronic Arts is trying to arrange it so that PC players will only match with console players if there’s a need to fill holes in a lobby as a last resort.

Will Battlefield 6 Have Console to PC Matchmaking?

It has been reported on social media by CharlieIntel that Battlefield 6 could have matchmaking features that match console players with other console players as a priority.

The team wrote on X:

If you keep cross-play on, EA says they are working to ensure console players get matched against other console players – and will only add PC players if there is a need to fill in lobbies.

This could be a huge win for console players, particularly those who feel that PC gamers are ‘more likely’ to cheat in a game like Battlefield 6. From what we know, the anti-cheat efforts going into Battlefield 6 are tip-top and one of the highest priorities for Electronic Arts’ studios, so that’s something else to bank on.

It’s worth stressing that Electronic Arts is trying to figure this out, and it’s not a guarantee. It almost certainly won’t be a feature added by the time the beta kicks off this coming week.

This is yet another example of Electronic Arts putting the community first with Battlefield 6. The option to turn crossplay on and off is important enough, but delivering on this consideration simply to help out worrisome console players is a good guy move.

Do you have any concerns about matching with PC players as a console-based gamer? Let me know on the Insider Gaming forum.
