Escape from Tarkov is in a tentative place at the moment. It’s supposed to be mere months away from launching as a ‘1.0 game’, graduating from early access, and hitting the market as a finished product. It has taken almost a decade to get this far, and the most veteran fans are ready to finally escape from Tarkov.
Earlier today, the head of the studio at Battlestate Games, Nikita Buyanov, uploaded a brief montage on social media, as he often does. This montage contained clear shots of a level containing a large ship, reminiscent of the one that Buyanov posted on social media mere days ago.
Is a New Tarkov Map Coming?
It seems far too late in the day for Battlestate Games to add an entirely new map to Escape from Tarkov, especially one that hasn’t been ‘documented’ until now. The image shared by Nikita Buyanov on social media previously showed a nuclear-powered icebreaker pushing through a frigid blizzard and being approached by two unidentified figures on snowmobiles.
Buyanov has followed up with his cryptic image by posting one of his classic montages, but in the video, we see that a map based on that concept art is clearly being developed:
What’s The Ship That Battlestate is Teasing?
In the clip posted by Nikita, we see shots of someone running through (or using a freecam to coast through) the bowels of a ship, potentially the one shown in the previously mentioned concept art.
We also see the same ship from a developmental perspective, flanked by what appears to be a series of buildings, and another shot of some rocky terrain that could represent a coastline.
Is this how we’re going to escape from Tarkov? Will Battlestate Games add some kind of final map (we thought it would be Terminal) to facilitate the ultimate extraction out of the region and into the sunset?
Could this be nothing more than a new map for Escape from Tarkov: Arena, the session-based multiplayer platform?
