We expected a new Nintendo Direct to be announced soon, but very few people saw TWO coming at once. Nintendo shocked everyone by revealing that we’ll see two Nintendo Direct presentations in the space of 24 hours, and one of them is dedicated to The Legend of Zelda’s 40th Anniversary.
A Nintendo Direct for September 2026 was a big rumor. It was likely to happen given historical data about Nintendo Directs. However, two is spoiling us a bit, and it’s set to be a mega day or so if you’re a Nintendo—and Zelda—fan.
Nintendo Directs Coming September 8 and September 9
Nintendo has given everyone details on the next two Direct showcases.
The first is on September 8, starting at 7 AM PT, and will be a 30-minute spectacular all about The Legend of Zelda franchise. With the Ocarina of Time Remake due to be released at the end of 2026, this will probably be the perfect time and place to show off the first gameplay.

Furthermore, we’ve seen and heard about the upcoming The Legend of Zelda movie, including Ganondorf’s casting being revealed. There’s every chance we get a tiny teaser trailer for the movie, or even just some new details, and you never know, we could get a new Zelda game announcement, or additional remasters and remakes!
This would be filling enough on its own, but consider this a starter, with September 9 hosting the main course. Also getting underway at 7 AM PT is a general Nintendo Direct showcase.
An indie or specific Direct hasn’t been indicated, which means we could see some major Nintendo AAA announcements and trailers. It’s better to keep expectations in check with these things, but you can always dream.
