Blood of Dawnwalker’s Most Popular Mod Kind of Defeats The Point of the Game

The Blood of Dawnwalker is out in the wild, and players worldwide are falling in love with it. It has performed remarkably well in the review stakes (including in my comprehensive review), and it’s blowing up as one of the year’s top breakout games. The studio behind it, Rebel Wolves, hasn’t made anything as a collective before this, which is even more impressive.

However, many feel that Dawnwalker’s core gameplay loop, which is focused on rescuing your family before they’re wiped out by a bloodthirsty cabal of vampires, is just too suffocating and must be eliminated from the game.

Remove The Blood of Dawnwalker’s Time Constraints

For those not in the know, I’ll explain how The Blood of Dawnwalker works.

You’re given 30 days to rescue your family from a harrowing family of vampires known as the vrakhiri. They’ve been taken by the fearsome Knyaz Brencis, and he plans to drain them of every drop of blood after about four weeks.

Everything you do in Dawnwalker costs time. You’re given eight segments for each day, and eight for each night, which means you get about 480 segments in total. That sounds like a lot, but everything from side missions to unlocking skill tiers costs time, so it gets eaten away pretty quickly.

That’s probably why the top mod for The Blood of Dawnwalker can alter that restriction entirely.

On Nexus Mods, no Blood of Dawnwalker mod has received more downloads than this one – not even close. At the time of writing, the ‘Better Story Timer’ mod had received 45,500 downloads. The mod in second place, which uncaps the game’s FPS in cutscenes, had 16,600 downloads.

Beyond that, you’ve got mods like increased carry weight, faster levelling, increased loot, easier parry, and automatic health regeneration.

The creator of the Better Story Timer mod has allowed users to ramp up their allowance to ninety days, tripling the base allotment. If that wasn’t enough, you can also boost the number of segments in each ‘halfday’ to as many as 32.

It also allows users to remove time costs for skill points, which is where you’ll arguably spend most of your time. Each skill tier beyond the base level requires a single time segment to level it up, and there are a lot of skills.

If you’re chasing achievements and trophies, you’ll need to rack up lots of them, too.

I guess it was super obvious that someone would make a mod like this, but it literally arrived within a day of release, and tens of thousands of people leapt at the chance to install it.
