This might hurt to read, and be hard to accept, but The Elder Scrolls 6 was announced eight years ago. What’s worse is that Skyrim came out in 2011, and based on a new report, this means the sixth full installment might arrive 20 years after Skyrim.
The Elder Scrolls 6 was first announced on June 11, 2018. To be clear, The Elder Scrolls 6 was announced EIGHT years ago, and the only thing we know about it or have seen is the 36-second reveal trailer. That’s it.
A new year passes, and it goes without a peep from TES6, and it looks to get a lot worse.
I Used To Want Elder Scrolls 6 Too, Then I Took An Arrow To The Knee

At the tail end of 2025, Todd Howard declared The Elder Scrolls 6 release was still “A Long Way Off.”
Which, after seven years, is an incredible statement.
Then, in June 2026, Bethesda claimed they would reveal Elder Scrolls 6 ‘At the Right Time,’ eight years after the first trailer.
Now, gaming insider Jason Schreier has claimed in a recent Bloomberg Live Q&A that The Elder Scrolls 6 is at least two to three years away.

I should point out that Schreier has said at least, which means it could be a lot more than two to three years.
Even three years would put us at 2029, and it could be more than that.
So let this sink in: The last mainline Scrolls game (not counting ESO) came out in 2011, and The Elder Scrolls 6 could release around or on 2031—making it 20 years between the two!
Will we ever see The Elder Scrolls 6?
Why not watch the initial reveal trailer one more time, for old times’ sake?
