Nintendo’s consolidated financial results are out, revealing that the Switch 2 is now close to selling 20 million units across its lifetime.
The memory shortage issues have finally caught up with Nintendo as well, with the company announcing a price increase for all its products and services today, including the Switch 2. The financial results have also indicated that the current-gen console has outperformed the previous-gen in its first year.
Switch 2 Sell-Through Was Higher Than Switch in First Full Fiscal Year
The latest financial results provide details on Switch and Switch 2 unit sales and projected sales statistics. In FY26, Switch 2’s hardware sales hit 19.86 million units and are forecast to reach 16.50 million units in FY27. Software sales for the Switch 2 totaled 48.71 million units and are forecast to reach 60 million units in FY27. However, the software sales numbers include bundles with other products, “approx. 12.60 million units of Nintendo Switch 2 software and 0.96 million units of Nintendo Switch software.”
Their findings reveal that Switch 2’s sales were higher in its launch year than those of previous hardware systems. Due to the strong launch sales and recently announced price increase, the company has predicted that unit sales will decline year-on-year in FY27. At the same time, the hardware sell-through of the Switch 2 “was higher than that of Nintendo Switch in its first full fiscal year.” Moreover, annual active users have surpassed 100 million.
In other news, it seems that 007 First Light’s Switch 2 release could be delayed again for optimization and polishing. Additionally, Star Fox has been announced for the Nintendo Switch 2.
