Nintendo’s President has confirmed the price increase for the Switch 2, Switch, and NSO.
Last week, we were informed that Nintendo’s investors were worried about their current-gen console being “deeply unprofitable.” Hence, the company was under pressure to raise the console’s price. Now, the official announcement has arrived, with the Switch 2 costing $50 more.
Switch 2 Price Increased to $499.99, Effective from September 2026
A new announcement by Nintendo confirms a price increase for its products and services, including the Switch, Switch 2, and Nintendo Switch Online. In the United States, the price of the Switch 2 has been increased from $449.99 to $499.99. Europe has seen the price rise from €469.99 to €499.99. Lastly, the price in Canada is now $679.99, up from $629.99. The price revisions will be implemented from September 1, 2026, in the United States, Canada, and Europe.
Coming to prices in Japan, the Switch 2 has seen its price increase from ¥49,980 to ¥59,980, the Switch OLED model has seen its price go up from ¥37,980 to ¥47,980, the base Switch has jumped from ¥32,978 to ¥43,980, and the Switch Lite now costs ¥29,980 instead of ¥21,978. The price increases in Japan will take effect on May 25, 2026.
Along with the Switch 2 and Switch price increase, NSO and Expansion Pack prices have also increased for all tiers. The price increase for NSO will take effect on July 1, 2026.
