A Japanese website has seemingly provided the release date for the Steam controller along with a bunch of images.
The upcoming Steam Controller has been in the news a lot recently. First, we saw Valve secretly add an unboxing video for the upcoming controller, and later, we saw the price of this device drop thanks to an early review. Now, the release date and images have also been leaked.
Steam Controller Release Date Leaks With Comparison Images
According to information posted on the Japanese publication 4Gamer’s website, the new Steam Controller is set to release on May 4, 2026; however, that article has since been removed. Moreover, the new images (that players can check out here) reveal how the controller compares in size to the DualSense and Xbox Wireless controllers, and let me tell you, it is considerably bigger. It also reveals weight, overall features, buttons, and design.
For those unaware, the Steam Controller 2 was officially revealed back in November 2025, when we got to see standout features such as new trackpads, four grip buttons, and gyro motion. It also features a puck that acts as a wireless transmitter for the device, as well as a charger when you aren’t playing. In other news, a dataminer has found mentions of SteamGPT, which could help with platform support and CS2 anti-cheat.
