According to SEScoops, Sony is interested in buying Warner Bros. streaming and studio assets. Those assets, the report says, would include the company’s HBO MAX streaming service, its various IPs, and gaming assets.

Warner Bros. Discovery announced on June 9 that it was splitting its company into two separate entities: WBD Streaming & Studios and WBD Global Networks. The split, which is scheduled to be completed by mid-2026, would see all of the companies linear assets such as TNT Sports, CNN, and Discovery under the Global Networks wing and Streaming & Studios include HBO Max, games, production studios, and more.
That was then followed up on June 17 with the news that Warner Bros. Games was restructuring to create new divisions based on its key gaming franchises. The new divisions will focus on Mortal Kombat, Harry Potter, Game of Thrones, and the DC Universe.
Insider Gaming has reached out to both Warner Bros. Discovery and Sony for comment on the claims. Should responses be received, they will be added to this story.
