Sony Delists More Shovelware Games from PlayStation Store

Some shovelware publishers’ games have been removed from the PlayStation Store by Sony, including Jesus Simulator.

Sony has been cracking down on shovelware publishers for some time now, trying to clean up the PlayStation Store one step at a time. Earlier this year, we saw over 1,000 games delisted from the platform’s fourth-largest publisher, and now new removals have been revealed.

Jesus Simulator is No Longer Available on PlayStation Store

Spotted on PSN Profiles (via Eurogamer), more shovelware titles have been dropped from the PlayStation Store. The latest set of removals includes games from GoGame Console Publisher, VRCForge Studios, and Welding Byte, such as Urban Driver Simulator, Water Blast Shooter – Wet Gun, Racing Car Chaos: Extreme Stunt Showdown, Supermarket CEO Simulator, and Jesus Simulator. None of the games is available for download from the PlayStation Store at the time of writing.

There are two types of shovelware games that players will usually come across, and both are low quality. The first type of game is generally either a copy of a trending game or some other trend, meant to capitalize on someone else’s success. The other type helps players easily grab trophies on their PSN account. It has been speculated that these removals are part of the joint partnership among Xbox, Nintendo, and Sony Interactive Entertainment, “Shared Commitment to Safer Gaming”.

Jesus Simulator is a game that was released last month by VRCForge Studios. It is a narrative-driven game that focuses on the life of Jesus Christ, featuring events of the Gospel, biblical texts, and other historical sources. The recent reviews of the game on Steam are not the best, with players criticizing the use of Gen AI, an empty world, poor dialogue, and more. At the same time, some have praised its educational value, authentic details, and other features.

In other news, the upcoming horror game that blatantly used Nathan Drake’s face as the main character has now changed it after online chatter. Sony and Tencent have settled their lawsuit; Light of Motiram (Horizon clone) has been delisted from major platforms.
