MindsEye Gets the Cyberpunk Treatment as PlayStation Issues Refunds

MindsEye is off to a troubled start, and their experience is reminiscent of what CD Projekt Red experienced with the launch of Cyberpunk 2077. Similar to that time, PlayStation has begun issuing refunds for MindsEye.

MindsEye is developed by Build a Rocket Boy and published by IO Interactive. The single-player, narrative-driven, action-adventure was released for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC via Steam and Epic on June 10, 2025. However, the game is experiencing a bumpy start, primarily due to PC performance issues, bugs and glitches. There was significant chatter about the game ahead of launch; however, it failed to deliver on launch day.

PlayStation is Issuing Refunds for MindsEye

Thanks to The Gamer, we have seen two examples of PlayStation issuing refunds for MindsEye. The first example comes from the r/MindsEye subreddit, where a user has posted their conversation with PlayStation support. In their request for a refund, the user mentioned that the game “is advertised on the official PlayStation launch trailer with 60fps footage as pro enhanced, but that’s incorrect.”

PlayStation acknowledged the problem, stating they are aware of the issues regarding the optimisations for MindsEye and are currently investigating the issue. In the meantime, they had processed the refund request for the customer.

WolfgangMishima posted a similar exchange on X (formerly Twitter). Wolfgang’s post only includes the response from PlayStation, which stated that they are usually not allowed to offer refunds for games purchased from the PlayStation Store, but they will make an exception for the user. PlayStation understands that the user is facing issues with the game even after troubleshooting and is refunding MindsEye as a goodwill gesture for their account.

Cyberpunk 2077 faced a similar situation to MindsEye, with PlayStation issuing refunds despite its strict policy. However, the game hasn’t been delisted from the platform yet. Things may seem pretty bad for MindsEye right now, but similar to Cyberpunk 2077’s situation, the developers can work towards turning things around for the game in the future.

In other news, MindsEye devs have cancelled sponsored streams for the game. Also, here’s how to unlock all achievements and trophies in the title. What are your thoughts on PlayStation issuing refunds for MindsEye? Let us know below and join the official Insider Gaming forums discussion.
