Genshin Impact’s 7.1 update is the next major milestone on the game’s never-ending roadmap. On September 12, the HoYoverse team pushed out a massive livestream showcasing everything that’s coming with the update, letting fans know all the juicy details. Fortunately, I’ve got all the information you need, in case you weren’t able to watch the stream.

Genshin Impact: A Rekviem for the Underworld
Genshin’s massive 7.1 update will introduce two new characters to an already ample roster: Vesna and Vodyanitsa.
Vesna is an Anemo character who commands the Druzhna, while Vodyanitsa is at the heart of the Korolevskiy Troupe. Vodyanitsa is also a Hydro character, and both are five-star playable units.
Here are their descriptions:
- Vesna: Commander of the Druzhna and Tsaritsa’s Keen Blade
- Vodyanitsa: Prima Donna of the Korolevskiy Troupe and a Water Imp who has parted from her kin.
It’s not just characters coming to Genshin Impact with the 7.1 update, of course. There are also new weapons:
- Beyond the Chrysalis (five-star sword)
- Hymn of the Maelstrom (five-star catalyst)
- Silverlight (four-star sword)
HoYoverse is hugely expanding the Genshin Impact story with the 7.1 update. It’s all centered around a new Archon Quest, ‘A Rekviem for the Underworld’, which will go live once the update has been rolled out globally.
Ronova is stepping up as a new weekly boss once the update comes around as well, and an entirely new world boss, dubbed ‘The Guardian Blade of Drifting Snow’, will arrive.
But that’s not all.
You’ll be getting new banners, spread across two phases: Vesna (1), Vodyanitsa (1), Skirk (2), and Escoffier (2).
As the update’s season unravels, four new events will take place:
- Silverwing in Pursuit of the Moon
- Carefree Snowball Fight
- Predictive Victory Dynamics
- Overflowing Favor

When is Genshin Impact 7.1 Coming Out?
Genshin Impact’s 7.1 update will be going live on all platforms on September 23rd, 2026. That means you’ve only got a couple of weeks (at the time of writing) to wait! It’s the big sixth anniversary patch, so you won’t want to miss it. HoYoverse is expected to announce some more juice in the coming days.
