The next chapter in the Diablo story has been revealed. At BlizzCon 2026, it was announced that Diablo 5 would arrive in spring 2029. Blizzard also shared some plot details.
The hook of this forthcoming game is that Sanctuary has fallen. The heroes are gone, and Diablo has taken Sanctuary. Blizzard representatives on stage said the game is anchored by the question, “What must you become when the world has already fallen?”
A panel covering the development of the fifth game of the Diablo franchise will take place later in the day at BlizzCon.

In addition to the announcement of Diablo 5. The official announcement of Diablo 4’s release on the Nintendo Switch 2 was made. That game will drop on September 15. This announcement wasn’t a great surprise, as it was widely reported that this would be the case. It’s also expected to cost $69.99
Also, the Amazon class is coming to Diablo 4 beginning in the first half of 2027. Additionally, an animated adaptation of Diablo is coming to Netflix soon. This is the first product of a partnership between Blizzard Entertainment and the streaming juggernaut, but it was made clear that this won’t be the last.
Diablo 4 still has the better part of 3 years as the franchise’s dominant game, but the next iteration is now on the horizon. Also, Diablo 2 received its first major update in 25 years earlier this year. This ARPG remains a genre leader, and Blizzard is excited about the next stage.
