There hasn’t been this much excitement for a new DK game in years. Donkey Kong Bananza is hot stuff after announcements concerning the development team. If you’re hyped for Donkey Kong Bananza, let’s check out the latest review embargo information.
Review embargo day for a new AAA game is always fun. Weeks of Reddit debates and social media discourse are finally put to bed. With Donkey Kong Bananza set to be the Nintendo Switch 2’s first proper AAA, single-player exclusive, we’re all looking forward to it.
Another reason to be even more on the edge of your seat is the confirmation that Super Mario Odyssey’s devs have made Bananza. Let’s stop monkeying around and get into review embargo details.
Donkey Kong Bananza Review Embargo Date, Explained

According to a popular social media source, Donkey Kong Bananza review scores go live on July 16.
The information is from X account @Stealth40k. They’re a reputable source of gaming news and information. While they haven’t revealed where they got the information from, the page is generally very reliable.
Obviously, take the information with a pinch of salt.
Nintendo has been less open with Switch 2 consoles and games for review so far, so it’s likely the final embargo date will be close to launch. This was the case with Mario Kart World, where the review embargo was live on the day of the console’s release—with hardly any outlets getting consoles to review.
We don’t know the exact time reviews go live, and we’ll update this if we learn more. Based on other titles, don’t be surprised to see reviews start flooding in from 5:00 AM PDT / 7:00 AM CDT / 8:00 AM EDT / 1:00 PM BST—give or take an hour or two difference.
What Donkey Kong Bananza Review Scores Can We Expect?
Now that we know Donkey Kong Bananza has been made by lots of the Super Mario Odyssey team, there’s a thought that Bananza’s final Metacritic score will be between 90 and 95!
Remember when I was talking about that excitement earlier? Look no further than projected review scores. To be honest, the first gameplay trailers looked fantastic. Since then, we’ve learned a ton about the game through the Bananza Switch Direct—showing off the game’s destructibility, collectibles, and strong emphasis on story and characters.
I’ll whisper it: But Donkey Kong Bananza is surely going to be a Game of the Year contender. Astro Bot scored a 94 Metacritic rating and won GOTY pretty much everywhere. I’ll stick my neck on the line and predict a 92 rating when all is said and done.
Enough about my opinions, it’s time to hear what you think. Can Donkey Kong Bananza score in the 90s? Can it reach 95 territory? If you think I’m bananas, tell me why through the Insider Gaming forum.
