Is Donkey Kong Bananza Coming to Nintendo Switch 1? Switch 2 Price Explained

Donkey Kong Bananza is the first big single-player AAA title for the Nintendo Switch 2. With this in mind, let’s find out how much it costs on Switch 2, and if the game is coming to the original Nintendo Switch.

Mario Kart World was the only major exclusive released for the Switch 2 at launch. It has plenty of single-player content, but it’s also a very online and multiplayer-focused title. Donkey Kong Bananza fits the criteria better for those looking for a core single-player experience.

This could be the 3D platformer we’re all after, as we’ve had confirmation that its developers are mostly the Super Mario Odyssey team.

Can You Play Donkey Kong Bananza on Switch 2?

Donkey Kong Bananza is a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive, which means you can’t play the vibrant platformer on the Switch 1, or any platform that isn’t the Switch 2.

The Nintendo Switch 2 is the natural home for the next evolution of Nintendo’s first-party titles. It wouldn’t make much sense to have these big system-selling titles on a console that’s already sold over 150 million units and counting.

This is likely why Donkey Kong Bananza is only on the Switch 2—plus, Bananza looks big! The magnitude of the platformer and the destructability could be too much for the Switch 1 to handle.

How Much Will Donkey Kong Bananza Cost?

You can expect to pay $69.99 for Donkey Kong Bananza either digitally or for a physical edition. Whereas you’re looking at £58.99 for digital, or £66.99 for a physical disc copy.

Yes, the price of games is enough to make your eyes water—whether that’s from crying or the sting of increasing costs is up to you. The Switch 2’s launch went from happiness to horror as we had an excellent Switch 2 direct, only to be met by the new cost of AAA Nintendo gaming.

Donkey Kong Bananza isn’t quite as expensive as Mario Kart World. However, you need to make sure you have plenty of bananas in the bank account before you consider purchasing the first, new DK game in over a decade.

If you still only own a Switch, it’s going to cost an arm and many legs to fund the Switch 2 and a copy of Donkey Kong Bananza.

Will you buy a Nintendo Switch 2 just for Donkey Kong Bananza? Is the new DK game worth the increased prices? Share all your thoughts with us through the Insider Gaming forum.
