In September 2026, the extensive Marvel Rivals character selection screen lost a member: Loki. The God of Mischief isn’t up to no good for the time being, and there’s a reason behind the character’s mysterious absence in the shooter.
Marvel Rivals Season 10 started with a bang before it even got going. The season trailer debuted a new, long-awaited character in Gorr the God Butcher, and the aptly named villain has already set upon his first prey in Marvel Rivals.
Why Can’t I Use Loki in Marvel Rivals?
Loki is currently not available for selection in Marvel Rivals because the character has technically been killed by Gorr the God Butcher.
When you have ‘God Butcher’ in your name, you either have a dramatic name that doesn’t live up to the hype, or you literally are one of the most powerful enemies the Marvel Universe has ever seen…it’s the latter, folks, in case you were wondering.
The community was very confused when Loki mysteriously vanished from Marvel Rivals ahead of Season 10. He couldn’t be picked, and there was no reason why.

Gorr the God Butcher’s first action in the Marvel Rivals timeline was to kill Loki in the ‘Butcher’s Blasphemy’ season-opening trailer. If you try to select Loki in Marvel Rivals right now, his name and face have been wiped away, with a new symbol to denote his passing.
Marvel Rivals hasn’t been afraid to kill off characters in recent months, with the death of Wolverine, the death of Psylocke, the death of Gambit, and the death of Apocalypse being recent examples.
When is Loki Coming Back in Marvel Rivals?
You can still use Loki in Ranked Mode for Marvel Rivals, but it could be a while until we get him back in the normal roster moving forward.
This is all part of the Season 10 narrative, and not only could we not be able to use Loki for a few days or even weeks, but there’s discussion that other heroes could be subjected to a similar fate.
For now, you might have to accept the fact that Loki is off-limits for now. You can relive the pain by rewatching his death again in the Season 10 trailer.
